This is, in a way, an American cradlesong.

& These are, perhaps, more poem than song; a chapter, a passage of folkways. For folk, in this country, is both lullaby and nightmare. So both are here, in cradlesong.

I had wished to record a handful of lullabies for 4 friend's little ones - new to this world - & soon to come. But you should never trust an uncle.

I still intend to make a bedtime album -
for Fen & Iona & Talula & Mijocito.

But for now, this quilt fits grown-ups more than it does the kiddos.
